App Privacy
The privacy policy for snarky leaf, the app with the plant. Effective August 31, 2026.
Snarky leaf is a small daily plant game made by The Snarky Leaf. This page says plainly what the app keeps, what it shares, and what it never touches. It is short because the app collects little.
What stays on your phone
Your plants — every month's record of watering, pruning, turning, and leaving alone — live on your device. So do your wardrobe choices and app settings. They are not uploaded.
Your account
Signing in uses your email address, only to send you a one-time code. We also keep the name you choose to go by, and your plant's "look" (which pot and props it wears) so your friends can see your plant as you dressed it. That is the whole account.
Friends
Friendship is by invitation code and always by consent: you ask, they accept or decline. Friends can see your name, your plant's look, and the fertiliser exchanged between you. Nobody else can.
Location and weather
If you turn weather on, the app reads your approximate location once per open, rounds it, spends it on a single weather request (to Open-Meteo), and discards it. Your location is never stored, never sent to us, and never attached to your account. Weather off means it is never read at all.
Notifications
All notifications are opt-in and off by default. If you turn them on, a push token for your device is stored so a friend's fertiliser or friend request can reach you. The daily reminder is scheduled locally on your own phone. Turning a toggle off stops its notifications.
What we do not do
No ads. No analytics. No trackers. No selling or sharing of data with anyone. The app does nothing in the background — it only acts when you open it or when a friend of yours does something that concerns you.
Deleting your account
Settings → delete account removes your account and everything attached to it on our side — profile, friendships, requests, and fertiliser history — immediately and permanently. The plants on your phone stay yours.
Services we stand on
Sign-in and friend data are stored with Supabase. Push notifications are delivered through Expo. Weather comes from Open-Meteo. Each receives only the minimum described above.
